A report looking at rental prices across the UK and how they have increased over the last five years shows that Newcastle is in the top 10 for increases.
Typical rents in Newcastle have increased by an average of 30.6% between 2014 and 2019, rising from £549 per month to £717 according to the research by Ideal Flatmate.
Properties in England have seen a 15.6% rise in rental prices over the past five years meaning Newcastle is nearly double the national average.
