The new 125mph train whisking passengers from Newcastle to London in just over two-and-a-half hours is finally here.

First announced in 2016, LNER’s state-of-the-art ‘Azuma’ trains begin their first journeys to the North East on 1 August 2019.

Built at Hitachi’s plant in County Durham as part of a £5.7bn contact, the new engines feature around 100 extra seats per train, as well as more legroom, plug-points at every seat and better wifi.

James Forrester, Managing Director of StripeHomes, commented: “It’s fantastic to see Virgin investing in new trains and services that will attract more business, students and investment from around the UK.”
